Find a Trope:
openIs there a trope, for accidentally getting invited? Web Original
I'm sure this trope has been done, a few times before, but I wanted to know if it's one of the tropes.
Basically, someone sends an invitation for an event/mission/vacation, to a particular person for various different reasons. However through a series of hijinks, the invitation ends up in the hands of not the intended guy, but rather a completely different person. Never the less, the person accepts the invitation and goes anyway.
For the record, I'm not really referring to the Mistaken for Special Guest trope, but more of the invitation being sent to the wrong person. Any help, would be appreciated.
openFinal Battle on the moon Web Original
New Testament SD Gundam Gaiden New World Advent Legend has the final battle take place on the moon. Does that count as Astral Finale? If not, what does it count as?
openSD Gundam Crystal Chibi Senshi Web Original
I made a page for the SD Gundam Chibi Senshi toyline, and I need help with one trope. They did multi-pack re-releases with Crystal (AKA Transparent Plastic) versions of the Gundam in the toyline (As seen here◊ and here◊ and here◊). What do special re-releases of toys count as?
open Trope for each oc Web Original

openThis story is entirely true. Web Original
Is there a trope about how in some (usually creepypasta) stories, it starts with an assurance that the story is entirely true? Because that's something I'd like to add to The petscop webvid page. Petscop does that.
openCreators acknowledging this site Web Original
Is there a trivia or Just for Fun item for creators acknowledging this site in some capacity?
openSomething about catching the entire universe (solved) Web Original
In that part of a Dorkly Originals video, Red used a Zapdos on a masterball and overcharged it, resulting in him catching the entire universe and the narration to ask with horror what he had done. What's that trope's name?
Edited by AlicornGaiaopenHated by everything living Web Original
So I was reading The Wandering Inn, its wiki & trope page, about Crelers (https://thewanderinginn.fandom.com/wiki/Crelers), and I noticed that there was an important aspect of them that wasn't mentioned at all ; that they are hated by every single thing that is alive or even undead, as the wiki said : 'Crelers are considered the worst and most universally detested monsters, and are instinctively targeted by all forms of life that can fight them.' and the story mentioned that even rabbits will eat/destroy creler eggs if they see any.
Yet when I looked for a trope that described that, I didn't find any that fitted, with the closest being 'Enemy Mine' (For the 'Everything hate crelers), despite 'Enemy to All Living Things' having a more appropriate title (Because that trope is about someone having an Aura of Death).
So is there a trope that I missed that is like that or should I go to the Trope Launch Pad ?
openDirtbag impossible screen transition (Solved.) Web Original

Is there a trope for when a youtube series or podcast features personalized sponsor segments which include material from the show - for instance, a comedy podcast will feature original jokes during the sponsor segments, so listeners won't skip them?
openEnduring for a long time with a serious injury Web Original
Throughout the “Jungle on a Jungle” story arc of the web series “G’s Paragate”, a character named E. Andleway somehow manages to stay with his expedition group perfectly okay, despite his leg bleeding so severely, he has to support himself with a rock that he carries like a staff. And he doesn’t even pass out or collapse once or show signs that he might at some point. What is a good trope to describe his endurance under the conditions of his injury?

Edited by BlankBlanknessopenA type of skit comedy show which typically features just one actor playing every part Web Original
I was wondering if there exists a trope for this specifically, or one which is close enough to cover the concept. Basically, I've noticed an increasingly common form of online skit comedy on You Tube, where you typically have a single person who runs a channel where they write, produce, and star in comedy skits all on their own. What's notable about these channels is that they often make skits featuring multiple characters even though they're produced by just one lone person, which naturally leads to this one person playing every character and making use of clever editing to make it seem like there's multiple people interacting with each other in real time. While the concept of having one actor play multiple roles at the same time isn't anything new, I do think there's a quite specific trend of these types of online skit shows which is an offshoot of the broader trend of single-person video producers that the internet, and especially You Tube, has enabled. So, is there any trope that acknowledges this phenomenon currently?
opendefictionalized websites Web Original
ok i know there was a page for this and its driving me INSANE. the long and short is that a website is shown in a piece of media and when you put the url into your browser, you find that it actually exists! off the top of my head an example would probably be aperturescience.com from portal. if memory serves you can find the website url in one of the rattman dens along with a log in passwords. thanks in advance
Edited by apocalypsevitalopenCrayons as Makeup Web Original
I've seen some Youtube videos where women improvise of make it a challenge to use lipstick make from crayons or markers. There's even one video about using colored pencils as eyeliner. They're not children, they're pretty much grown women doing this. Do we have a trope connected to this?
openRegarding a trope on RWBY Web Original
In RWBY, Cinder's backstory revealed that she was enslaved by Madame and her two stepsisters for five years, and even wore a shock collar. Then, one day, Cinder snapped from the abuse, destroyed Madame's shock collar and killed her and her stepsisters.
Which trope best fits this description?
Edited by gjjonesopenOne frame scare? Web Original
In the episode "Show for Children", a skeleton named Cadavre is looking into graves at cemetaries. The first one contains a more realistic skeleton with a scary expression, and the second contains an unidentifiable but living (undead?) bird-like creature. However, after Cadavre escapes the second grave, the skeleton shown in the first grave is briefly overlaid on the gravestones as it fades out to the next scene. For only about one frame. Would this be considered a Jump Scare... or something else?
openBreast Expansion, or Adaptational Curves? Web Original
So in SMG 4, Meggy has a flat chest. However, when she went on vacation in Port Aurora, Meggy has her breasts upgraded. However, is it because the show has a totally different artstyle, or did the fog magically expanded her assets? Which is the right trope?
openSnarky Editor Web Original
An editor, usually not a top-billing character in a webseries or Lets Play, who nonetheless offers snarky commentary and banter, often at the expense of (or the request of) the stars of the show. Sometimes does not speak directly to the audience or cast (instead using on-screen text). Often becomes an Ensemble Darkhorse for the series. Mostly confined to Web Original series.
Prominent examples would include Barry, Kevin, and Matt and Ryan from Game Grumps; and Lixian from Markiplier's web videos.
Does something like this exist as a trope?
Edited by ShinySubstituteopenPure Unfiltered Evil Web Original
It's that kind of tag that I often see on Derpibooru when it comes to Twilight Sparkle spilling chocolate milk. What tropes do this tag apply?
A character is disliked or rejected. It seems like he'd be in hell, but he's actually happy - because the one(s) hating him do so because of a quality he's proud of.
The standard joke I'm thinking of (from Saturday Morning Breakfast Theater) is when a woman breaks up with a man because she thinks her penis is too big, and he's smiling about it.
One example that's not R-rated I remember is an episode of The Simpsons where a teacher is mean to Lisa despite them sharing academic interests, and in the end, the teacher reveals she's always been jealous of pretty girls like Lisa, so Lisa feels good about being hated "for that reason".
